Black Belt Training - Sunday 27th April 08Photos |
 | New skills and development made this a great day.
Adam, who is clubs weapons expert began the day with refreshing the staff work for some and beginning skill development for others. it was great for Master Warren to be able to be a student for a change.
Everyone enjoyed the two hour session and look forward to future developments that Adam imparts to us all.
Noon saw Black Belts undertaking some refresher work in using multiple skills for defence/counter work. These skills were worked on so as to be able to develop the new syllabus for students over the coming months. Blue and Red Belts have some exciting new skills to develop.
Following the skill session was continued work on the New WTF Pattern, a compulsory element this year in All Black Belt Gradings. Currently we have Steve and Nick Boag able to perform the complete pattern with others 50% through the form consistantly well.
Instructors spent some time discussing and formulating new skills for various grade levels, this will be continued at a future senior black belt day in May. |
Club Grading 20th April 2008Photos |
 | Our first grading for 2008 showed how well everyone has been training.
Master Warren, Subomnim Adam Warren and Stephen Boag formed the grading panel which put the students through some intense scrutiny of new skills that have been developed this year.
Warrens Taekwondo is always looking at how to advance students skills to ensure they are at the forefront of Taekwondo. This grading showed how well students are adapting to some new advancements we have made.
All our cadets also showed they have been advancing in skill development and this year even though they are still only 7 or 8 yrs old will all be advanced to junior grades where the training is much more complex. Already they have begun training with aerial triples, more complex directional arma nd leg combinations.
The best grading was by Brady Kirby doing 2nd Kup Red. Brady participates in every variety of training we have, from weapons, sport to Traditional and it shows in his level of knowledge and skill. We expect to see him Black belt by christmas, what a present!
NEW BLACK BELT - Congradulations to Alexandria Lukic on here 1st Pum Black Belt - now all three from the Lukic family, Michael, Marlie and Alexandria have reached Black Belt. Well Done!
Well done everyone and a special thankyou for the excellent job that the junior black belts, Caitlyn, Brady and Marlie did in assisting as partners with all the students at grading.
Next Grading will see many Black belts attempting higher gradings this year, should be very interesting with the new Poomsae developed by the WTF being performed. |
Club Camp - Camp BanksiaPhotos |
 | First Club training was held at Camp banksia with great success.
All the black belts arrived early on the Saturday for training. We begun with freestyle actions, working around the floor space using a creative application of skills. Master Warren had us move onto working on basic spinning techniques, to ensure we kept our high standard of skill. Subomnim Adam Warren then took the black belts through new blocking techniques, as well as encompassing some practical application of these.
After the rest of the students arrived we all sat down for a great lunch then headed down the beach for some fun. On the beach we did some kick paddle work, then Subomnim Adam Warren took the rest of the students through the new blocks and application of them in self defence/step exercise routines.
As the tide was out, we all went back to camp and seperated into three groups. Master Warren took one group for some archery, and almost managed to lose an arrow or two in the bushes! Subomnim Adam Warren took the second group for some basic staff work. The final group supervised by Subomnim's Debbie Jack and Subomnim Elaine Jackman worked in the hall practicing poomsae for Sunday's competition. We rotated between these activities for an hour and a half, then afterwards went down to the beach to have a swim! The water was great, and the students all had fun jumping and dunking each other in the waves.
After the beach we headed back to camp for dinner, then we all watched Ratatouille. After the little kids went off to bed, some of the older kids and black belts watched Unleashed, then it was off to bed as we had a very early morning to wake up to!
Subomnim Adam Warren woke us all up at 6.40am, and we went down to the beach where he took us through a meditation and breathing routine. After which we had to run up the beach.By the time we were done we were definately looking forward to breakfast!
During breakfast we sung happy birthday to the Norquay boys, as they were lucky enough to turn 13 while on camp!
Morning training saw Master Warren conduct a formal training class where we went through some training and sparring.
To finish the morning we moved into the hall for a form competition! Everyone did really well and some students have improved dramatically over the last few months!
After the competition, we went and had lunch, and then to celebrate Elliot and Mitchells birthday we had some cakes. To finish off our camp, we all went back to the beach. Unfortunately the tide was out, so the kids had a long walk to get to the water to play. As parents came to pick the students up, we finished off another great camp. Lots of fun was had by the students, and hopefully next camp we can see more students come along and participate in a great club event.
Next Camp - September 2008 |
Demonstration - Punchbowl School Fair 14th March 08Photos |
 | Well Done all. given two weeks to put together a team and train for a demonstration is no easy task.
Adam worked hard to development something that would be exciting for the audience and an experience to remember for the students.
A stage that was only 3.5 metres wide is not easy to perform on, but everyone put in a great effort and showed how well they can do Taekwondo.
Studnets that wish to continue in a demonstration team will now develop more routines with higher skill levels so they can perform at functions where requested. Ask your school if they would like a taekwondo demonstration at an event. |

Joshua finished 2003 as National Black Belt poomsae champion and he again showed the high level he has attained by winning silver. This puts him on track for future repreentation in an Australian Team to compete at future World Championships. Well Done and Congratulations to Krystal as she has worked very hard as a competitor to reach the level she has attained.
As part of the Olympic Shadow Team Krystal will be expected to increase her training to achieve a standard that will consistantly place her in the highest levels of international competition.
Taekwondo Australia have the last input into Scholarship applications for Taekwondo and again our players show the highest skills to attain such rewards.

 | Back from Korea Krystal, Danielle and Joshua returned from Korea yesterday, Danielle sporting a Gold and a Bronze medal around her neck. Krystal had a tough fight in the semi-finals against an opponent who had just returned from a strong performance at the Worlds, unfortunately Krystal was defeated, earning a bronze medal. Joshua lost his fight to a Malaysian fighter, but fought well and will benefit well from his experiences.
Overall the Australian team that attended did well, receiving 6 senior fighting golds, 3 technical gold, and numerous silvers and bronzes. The team came away as best Fighting team and best Technical team. |
 | Master Warren,Krystal,Joshua and Danielle off to Korea This is the first time we have officially taken players to Korea. Krystal has competed there before as part of an Australian Team and as part of the World Universiade, but we have never had our students attend an event in Korea. Joshua, following his Gold Medal in New Zealand will be out to gain as much experience as possible to set him on the path for future Australian selection. He has worked very hard and achieved much this year as a competitor. Danielle has been allowed to attend as part of her future development as a Junior representative for Australia. | Success once again in New Zealand As many of you know Jason Cassidy and Joshua Warren recently travelled to New Zealand to compete, and keeping in tradition with previous visits to New Zealand by Warren's Taekwondo members, great success was experienced by these two competitors. Jason won his two fights to receive a gold medal and title of New Zealand National Feather-weight champion, and Joshua won his division to receive a gold medal and title of New Zealand National Fly-weight champion. Joshua also competed against 10 other senior black belts to win the Adult Blackbelt Poomsae (forms) competition. There was a combined effort between our two fighters and three fighters from Tonga against a team of five New Zealanders unfortunately through fierce competition we fell two points short of another victory, receiving a Silver medal for our efforts.
Total Medal Tally: Jason Cassidy : 1 Gold, 1 Silver Joshua Warren : 2 Gold, 1 Silver |
 | Master Warren and Krystal in Korea Master Warren is currently in Seoul, South Korea staying in the Olympic Parktel Hotel which was used as the Olympic Park for the Seoul Olympics in 1988. Krystal is currently in the City of Daegu where Master Warren is going to join her on Friday. Krystal will be competiting on Sunday so think good thoughts her way all day Sunday. Just a quick note, in the hotel where Master Warren is staying the bedrooms are Korean style, which means there are no beds, just a lovely floor to sleep on. |
 | Club Athlete on T.V. For those of you who are interested, a story on our very own Krystal Chugg will be on Stateline on the ABC on Friday Night at 7.30pm. Krystal was followed around by T.V. cameras all day today (Wednesday) for this special event. |

 | Team preparing for Nationals Our strong team has been preparing hard for the Nationals in Brisbane that will be held in October. We have a strong group of players representing the Northern clubs including: Krystal Chugg (Perth), Danielle Jack (Launceston), Joshua Warren (Launceston), Debbie Jack (Launceston), Jason Cassidy (Launceston), Toni-Anne Digney (Launceston), and Jacynta O'Rourke (Devonport). We all hope to do well in this competition. |
 | Olympic Shadow Team Selection Success We are pleased to announce that Krystal Chugg was quite successful at the recent Shadow Team Selections, winning a bronze medal, a top 3 ranking in Australia, and earning herself a spot on the Olympic Shadow Team. Krystal was suffering from alot of nerves due to recent unsuccessful tournaments but pulled through alot to win her first fight. Unfortunately she lost in the Semi-Finals, but made a come back winning 2 Fights in the repecharge to receive the Bronze. By having to fight through the repecharge, Krystal had to fight 4 fights, when one is exhausting enough. Quite a feat considering the finalists only fought 3. This means Krystal will be taking part in certain Shadow Team training camps and will return from these events with more experience to pass onto the rest of the Club.
Congratulations to Krystal from everyone at Warren's Taekwondo. |
 | Olympic Shadow Team Selections Longford student and South Launceston Instructor Krystal Chugg will be competing in the Olympic Shadow Team selections this weekend at the Australian Institute of Sport. A 1st, 2nd or 3rd placing will give Krystal a position on the Shadow Team, who train with Australia's Olympians and have a chance to fill positions at the Olympics. The best of luck to her. |
 | Institute Test Athletes Tuesday Night saw the Tasmanian Institute of Sport coming out to test Krystal Chugg, Joshua Warren and Danielle Jack in training. All three were having their heart rates monitored throughout the session with special Lactic Acid Blood tests taken during Tolerance drills to help our State Coach David Warren further refine our tournament training methods. Special Thanks to the TIS for their time and to our Coach for arranging everything. |
